About

MARIAN LEE
Travel Ambassador
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Student under Master Carlson Gracie Jr.

Hi, I’m Marian…

the Barbarian. My nickname has stuck since childhood and I can’t run away from it, so I’ll just embrace it. I’m a Korean-American, Chicago based travel writer, photographer, adventurer, storyteller, filmmaker, and a devoted student of the legendary Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu master, “Mestre” Carlson Gracie Jr.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has taught me to be fearless in all of life’s conquests and I created this blog to share about the stories, the challenges, and the valuable lessons learned while on this lifelong journey of learning the gentle art. As my professor Carlson Gracie always said, “if you want to be a lion, you must train with lions.”

Recently, I lived and trained in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro while filming the upcoming travel show which is based on this blog. This blog also provides practical tips on travel, mostly for female solo travelers, as well as useful city guides, and secret discoveries one would not find in a typical travel guide.

My daily motto is: Scare yourself. Once a day, every day.

I hope you will find inspiration to conquer your fears by reading this blog.

Bon Voyage!

Marian
